The tastiest fusion in Athens is coming to the Athens Street Food Festival!

The ultimate Afro-Arab street food experience!

Put on your comfiest shoes, bring your friends, and get ready for an unforgettable culinary journey!

This year, AfroArab Flavors is making its debut at the Athens Street Food Festival, held at the Old Bus Depot, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. They’ll be there for three consecutive three-day weekends: May 8–10, May 15–17, and May 22–24. Mark your calendars, because this is one food stall you definitely don’t want to miss!

Two cultures, one cuisine!

What happens when the aromatic flavors of Arab cuisine meet the bold flavors of West Africa? The result is AfroArab Flavors! A combination of street food culture and the comforting feel of home cooking. Behind the menu are our beloved “chefs” — talented cooks from Egypt and Nigeria who know all the secrets to creating the perfect, authentic taste.

How did it all begin?

It all started with a friendship. Maroua, from Egypt, and Eirini, from Nigeria, two friends born in Greece who met at university and worked together on many projects, noticed something time and time again: people’s excitement about the food from their countries. Whenever their friends tried the dishes their mothers cooked, they always asked the same question: “Where can we find this?”

One day, at a family gathering, an idea came up: “Why not bring our cuisines together and introduce them to all of Athens?” And so, after convincing their mothers to step out of their own kitchens and into the “heat” of the festivals, the journey began. Their team grew, and after successful appearances at Meet Market, Jazz Festival, Vana ba Africa, and Vegan Fest, it’s finally time for the big stage of the Athens Street Food Festival!

What will you try from the menu? 🍴

The menu has been designed to satisfy every palate, from meat lovers to devoted vegans:

  • Jollof Rice with Chicken: The smoky experience you won’t forget! Nigeria’s most popular dish. Rice cooked in a rich tomato sauce with bold spices, served with juicy chicken and an extra-hot sauce for the adventurous. Of course, vegans can pair it with Aakra or Plantain.
  • Chicken Shawarma Wrap: The ultimate Arab street food vibe. Juicy chicken marinated in aromatic spices, wrapped in soft, fluffy flatbread with a creamy mayonnaise-mustard sauce, served with crispy fries.
  • Akara Dish (Vegan): The “falafel” of West Africa. Fluffy fried bites made from black-eyed peas and aromatic spices, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Served with crispy fries and a tahini sauce that brings all the flavors together perfectly!
  • Plantain (Special Guest): Fried “banana” with an irresistible sweet-and-sour flavor. Once fried, it develops a deliciously sweet and tangy taste, with a crispy golden exterior and a soft, juicy inside.

Coconut Mocktails: Cool down with fresh coconut and exotic flavors! Choose between Pineapple & Ginger, Mango, or Guava for the ultimate tropical twist.

For lovers of unique flavors, a stop at AfroArab Flavors is a must to discover the city’s most exciting culinary fusion.
